Question Answer
Cells All living organisms are made up of cells. Cells enable all of the processes of life and so are essential for all living things. Organelles are structures in a cell. Questions: 1. What do cells do? 2. What are organelles?
Parts of a Cell 1. The nucleus is the brain of the cell. It controls the activities of a cell. 2. The cytoplasm is where reactions take place. 3. The cell membrane controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell and holds the cell together. 4. The chloroplast contains chlorophyll and takes up light to create food. (photosynthesis) 5. The cell wall strengthens the cell and allows dissolved substances and liquids to pass through. 6. The vacuole contains sap. 7. The ribosomes makes protein. 8. The mitochondria is where aerobic respiration takes place. 9. The chromosomes carry all the information that helps a cell grow, survive, and reproduce. They also help in cell division. Questions:
Animal Cell (circle) 1. Cell membrane 2. Cytoplasm 3. Nucleus 4. Mitochondria 5. Small Vacuole 6. Ribosomes
Plant Cell (rectangle) 1. Cell Membrane 2. Cytoplasm 3. Mitochondria 4. Nucleus 5. Cell Wall 6. Chloroplast 7. Vacuole 8. Ribosomes
