Question Answer
name 9 types of energy. chemical, electrical, solar energy, light energy, nuclear energy, gravitational forces, kinetic energy, elastic energy and sound energy.
what is the output of chemical energy? sound, heat, movement
name some chemical energy. petrol, food, coal, oil, wood
what is the useful output of kinetic energy? movement
what are the outputs of electrical energy? movement, appliances
where does energy go? it is traansferred into a useful or wasteful energy
what is the output of solar energy? heat and thermal
what is energy measured in? joules
what is the output of nuclear energy? splitting atoms- heat and light
name two electrodes copper & zinc
what sort of electrolyte produce a more powerful battery? A liquid Electrolyte
why is it not practical to use a a liquid electrolyte in all cells? because if a very powerfull electrolyte formed in liquid with another type of powerful electrolyte it would form a POWERFUL EXPLOSION.
DRAW a Parallel circuit. (with 1 battery and 2 bulbs)
draw a series circuit. (with 3 bulbs and 1 battery)
would this circuit make the bulb light up? no becuse the swithch is not down
the voltages are all equal to each other. = 12 volts
what is the unit of currents? Amps
what is the symbol for the unit of current? A
What device can measure the flow of a current? Ammeter
in a circuit the current is all the same.
in a parallel circuit the current are the same parallel to each other
how do you draw the symbol of a BUZZER?
How do you draw the symbol of a MOTOR?
What is powered measured in? watts
what does DC mean? Direct current
what does AC mean Alternating Current
Draw a cell?
1) if you add another bulb, how bright would the bulbs appear. they would be half the brightness of the bulbs at the moment
2) if you connect another cell, how bright would the bulbs appear compared to 1 they would be twice the brighter.
3) December 1 (ignore red) September 1 (ignore red)
3) How many units has thins person used? take away the days - 60030 - 46043 = 13987 take away the nights - 83677-32436 =51241 -daytime unit = 8 pence -night time unit= 1.5 pence multiply the day by 8 =1118.96 multiply the night by 1.5 = 768.62
Lawrence family= previous reading = 23041 current reading = 23652 Reynolds family= previous reading = 89326 current reading = 92656 which family do you think is small, explain i think the Lawrence because the figures are much more smaller than the Reynolds family.
how does electricity get to our homes? power station - transformers - circuit breakers - high voltage cables - sub station, houses 230v
how many volts per house? 230 volts
what is the disadvantages of a coal power station? coal power stations produce the highest amount carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
name 3 non- renewable energys coal, oil, gas
what does coal, oil, and gas called collectively? fossil fuels
label 1-4 1) burning coal heats up in a boiler making steam 2) the steam is piped to a steam turbine 3) as the turbine spins, it turns a generator 4) the electricity produced by the generator leaves the power station on to power lines
