What are some components of a capsule history? Signalment, primary complaint, duration of problem, appetite, water intake, vax status, meds, bleeding, collapse, consciousness?
What MBS are assessed and how? Cardiovascular: pulses, mucous membranes, CRT, HR, cardiac auscultation; Neurological: mentation, abnormal signs, gait; Respiratory: RR (15-25 pm) and effort, pulmonary auscultation, observe from afar
What is hypoperfusion? failure of the circulatory system to deliver blood to the tissues
What are the various types of shock and what can cause them? Hypovolemic shock: lack of normal blood volume (hemorrhage, fluid loss into GI or 3rd spaces); Maldistributive: inappropriate vasodilation that alters blood flow (SIRS, sepsis, or anaphylaxis); Cardiogenic: failure of the heart to pump blood effectively (end stage cardiac disease or severe arrhythmias); Obstructive: obstruction to blood flow (pericardial effusion or pulmonary thromboembolism)
