Question Answer
What are Genes? Sections of DNA that determine a particular feature.
How many alleles of each gene? Two
What happens if a dominant and a recessive allele are in the same cell? Only the dominant allele is expressed
What is co-dominance? Co-dominance is when two alleles are expressed in the same phenotype
What does 'genotype' mean? The genotype describes the alleles each cell has for a certain feature
What is a 'pedigree'? A pedigree is a diagram used to show how genetic inheritance is passed from parent to offspring
How many copies of each chromosome are in a sex cell? One
What do chromosomes carry? Genes
What does 'phenotype' mean? A phenotype is the feature that results from the genotype
What is it called when there's more than two alleles of one gene? The inheritance of multiple alleles
Name the two sex chromosomes? X and Y
