Question Answer
Harold was struck by a Norman arrow. Seeing their leader fall, the Saxons broke formation and fled. Taking advantage of the situation, the entire Norman army came charging after them. With blood boiling, the Normans left NO survivors. There are many stories about how Harold died but his body was never found. William shot his arrows over the saxon shield wall, one of the arrows struck Harold in the eye. The Normans seized this oppurtunity to attack. Also he sent troops to attack then pretend to retreat. This caused a small contingent of the shield wall to break formation only to be taken by surprise by the Norman cavalry coming up from behind!
