Question Answer
Gravity The force that attracts a body towards the centre of the earth, or towards any other physical body having mass.
Gravitational Field In physics, a gravitational field is a model used to explain the influence that a massive body extends into the space around itself, producing a force on another massive body.
Mass A large body of matter with no definite shape.
Distance Distance is a scalar quantity that refers to "how much ground an object has covered" during its motion. Displacement is a vector quantity that refers to "how far out of place an object is".
Orbits The curved path in which a planet, satellite, or spacecraft moves in a circle around another body.
Satellites A heavenly body that moves around a planet or another larger body.
Solar Eclipses An eclipse of the sun, when, at a particular observation point, light from the sun is blocked by the interposition of the moon.
Lunar Eclipses The obscuring of the moon's reflected light by the earth's shadow when the earth passes between the moon and the sun.
Tides The alternate rising and falling of the sea, usually twice in each lunar day at a particular place, due to the attraction of the moon and sun.
Tidal Variations The tidal range is the vertical difference between the high tide and the succeeding low tide. Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun and the rotation of the Earth.
