What are the 4 components of Bullying? Power disparity, Intensity, repetition, duration
Power Disparity The target must, for one reason or another, feel unable to stop or prevent abuse. Exists at the onset of bullying or develops over time.
Intensity An intent to harm or destroy the target -psychologically or career- wise. Attacks the person and not critiquing the task or work.
Repetition & Duration Bullying is persistent. Feels like they are caught in a fixed fight. Some say 2x a week for months, some say there isn't a line.

What percent of nurses leave their first job within 6 months? 60% of nurses leave

What is another affect employees have when leaving a workplace? Not able to integrate into the workforce until they are rehabilitated.

Who are Stakeholders? Targets, Co-Workers, Subordinates, Shareholders, Management, Families, and Perpetrators.
What are Values at Play? Bring it back to your primary values and their priorities. Look for evidence that dis-confirms your initial reaction. Consider hidden or long-term costs.
How do bullies choose their targets? They bully the competition because they are threatening.

What is Worker's Compensation? A legal system allowing injured employees to receive medical benefits for on-the-job injuries. (State Level)
What handles federal cases for worker compensation? Employee Compensation Appeals Board (ECAB)
What are some injuries on the job? Physical and mental injuries
How to make a case out of bullying? Make a case that bullies cost employers money and harm the bottom line.
What is not effective for bullying? -"See no evil" bullying will not be punished. -Inappropriate responses make the harm worse. -"Hear no evil" blame both parties
What is Effective for bullying? "Speak No Evil" acknowledges that bullying behavior is inappropriate and harmful.
