HILLS A hill is a piece of land that is higher than it's surrounding area. Hills are less than 600m
KNOLLS A knoll is a small isolated hill that is usually no taller than 300m
MOUNTAINS These are tall land forms with steep slopes which are over 600m high. A group of mountains is called a mountain range. The pointed top of a mountain is called the peak. The top is called the summit. The point where the mountain begins is called the foot.
Plateaus A large piece of highland that is flat at the top with steep cliffs by the sides
Valley A long narrow between two highlands
Volcano A volcano is a cone shaped mountain with an open in the earths surface called a vent, from which magma rises
