Question Answer
Why did the USA want isolationism? After the war, Americans were 'fed up' with "foreign entanglements" and the squabbles of Europe. Didn't want to keep paying the costs of peace across the world.
What did they do to try and get isolationism? The US congress refused to join the League of Nations. When Harding beat Wilson in the election he promised a return to 'normalcy' and to put 'america first'.
