Colloquial language Informal language that you would use in everyday conversation
Alliteration A sequence of words that begin with the same initial letter
Rhetorical question A question that does not need an answer. It is just used to engage the reader's attention.
List of three A sequence of three key words that catches your attention
A pun A humorous play on words e.g. Freshly clicked
Emotive language Language that aims to make an emotional appeal to the reader
Imperative A direct instruction
Direct address When the writer speaks directly to the reader
Idiom An everyday phrase that is not to be understood literally.
Onomatopoeia Words that sound like the noise they describe e.g. buzz, boom, whirr, clip clop
