Computer Misuse Act (1990) The Computer Misuse Act (1990) recognised the following offences: Unauthorised access to computer material Unauthorised access with intent to commit or facilitate a crime Unauthorised modification of computer material Making, supplying or obtaining anything which can be used in computer misuse offences
Copyright, Designs and Patents Act (1988) Copyright law protects the owner of a creative work from having it illegally copied It is illegal for an individual to copy software such as a game or application such as a word processing or graphics package
Creative Commons Licensing A Creative Commons licence is used when an author is willing to give people the right to share or use a work that they have created
Freedom of Information Act 2000 In 2000, a new law was passed to give people access to data held by public authorities This includes state schools, police forces, local authorities and the NHS It does not give access to personal data about people
