| Question | Answer |
| Gene | A sequence of DNA that codes for a specific protein |
| Allele | Different versions of the same gene |
| Dominant | The character which is always expressed (only one copy of allele needed) |
| Recessive | Two copies of the allele needed for it to be expressed. |
| Dominant disorder | Only one copy needed of faulty allele to have the disorder |
| Recessive disorder | Two copies of the faulty allele needed to have the disorder. |
| Homozygous | Two alleles for a particular gene the same |
| Heterozygous | Two alleles for a particular gene are different |
| Genotype | What alleles you have |
| Phenotype | The characteristic of those alleles. |
