Question Answer
Describe the difference between weight and mass. Weight is the amount or quantity of heaviness or mass. Mass is the quantity of matter as determined from its weight. Weight is a vector quantity, whereas mass is a scalar quantity.
Explain the difference between a vector and a scalar quantity. A vector quantity has magnitude and acts in a particular direction. A scalar quantity has magnitude but has no particular direction.
Describe the difference between displacement and distance. Distance is a scalar quantity that refers to 'how much ground an object has covered' during its motion. Displacement is vector quantity that refers to 'how far out of place an object is', this is the object's overall change in position.
Describe the difference between velocity and speed. Velocity is the speed with a direction, while speed does not have a direction. Speed is a scalar quantity- it is the magnitude of the velocity.
Acceleration. Acceleration is the rate at which an object changes its speed. It is calculated using the equation- Acceleration= change in speed divided by time taken.
Force. Force is a push or pull upon an object resulting from the object's interaction with another object.
Momentum. Momentum is the quantity of motion of a moving body, measured as a product of its mass and velocity.
Energy. Energy is a property a body has that helps it move against a force.
