What is Direct Data Capture? Direct Data Capture is how Data is Collected for Your Sole Purpose EG
What is Indirect Data Capture? Indirect Data Capture is how Data is Captured for a Particular Reason but then the Data is used for something else. EG Using the Class Attendance to be used for the whole school
What is Coding and what are the advantages? Coding is shortening the original data. EG used M and F for Male and Female. The advantages is that it reduces storage space, it is easier to validate and also it reduces input meaning reducing the risk of RSI.
What is Encoding and what are the Advantages? Encoding is making data understandable to a computer so that it can be processed EG Binary Code
What is Information? Information is Processed Data that has a Meaning to a Human-Being.
What are the 6 Factors Effecting the Quality of Information? Accuracy, Relevance Age, Complete Presentation, Level of Detail
What are the 5 Characteristics of Users? Task to be Undertaken, Environment of Use Age, Personal Characteristics Experience
What are the 3 Types of Interfaces? Menu Based Interface Command Line Interface Graphical User Interface
What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of a Command Line Interface? Advantages- They can be easily used by experienced users and much less RAM is needed. Disadvantages- It can be difficult to use if it has never been used before and exact commands have to be typed in or it won't work
What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of a Menu Based Interface? Advantages- They can be easy to use and no expertise is needed to use. Disadvantages- It can be irritating if their are several menu's to get to the designated one and if the interface is poorly designed it may be slow to use.
What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of a Graphical User Interface? Advantages- This type of interface is easy to use and they allow you to exchange data between several applications Disadvantages- The need of significantly more RAM and they can be slow for experienced users.

What is a Crime and what is Malpractice? A crime is breaking the law and is punishable by the law Malpractice is breaking a Code of Conduct of an organisation.

What is Backup and what is Recovery? Backup is a copy of the data on a system that is stored externally Recovery is the act of regaining something that has been lost.
