Type's of sampling
Simple Random sampling
- Advantages
- Everyone in the entire target population has an equal chance of being selected.
- If you need part of the population without any restriction this method is the indicated
- It's easy to use
- Almost you have a lot of people to participate
- Disavantages
- You may be straight or you may not
- May it touch part of the population that you did not want to be touched
- Maybe as you have many people you may not know much about them
- Example: A buisness man need's 20 any person to like to work. In this example the man say that he need 20 any person
- Advantages
Systematic Random Sampling
- Advantage
- The number is also assigned to each element of population.
- You list all the members of the population, and then decided upon a sample you would like
- You have the popullation very orgnized
- Disavantage
- It is very difficult to achieve.
- If you have a lot of popullation us very dificult to do
- Example: you wanted to sample 150 children from a school of 1,500, you would take every 10th name.
- Advantage
Stratified Random Sampling
- Advantage
- You have a list is made of each variable, which might have an effect on the research.
- You have a lot of subgroups
- You can choose wathever subgroup is to depend that you need's
- Disavantage
- We have to work out the relative percentage of each group
- A lot of data you need to have
- Example: You need the percentage of each group at a university e.g. Engineering 10%, Social Sciences 15%, English 20%, Sciences 25%, Languages 10%, Law 5%, Medicine 15% The sample must then contain all these groups in the same proportion as in the target population
- Advantage
Cluster Sampling
- Advantage
- He separate the population in groups
- He analays the ech data of a group
- Disavantage
- You need to analyse a lot of datas
- It's difficult to do
- Example: You have a lot of students, and you have different grades and you need to separate the 8,7,6 and then you agroup the grades, that is cluster sampling
- Advantage
Quota Sampling
- Advantage
- You will have just what you needed
- This sampling is very effective
- Disavantage
- You may reject many people because they do not meet the quota
- Almost you don't find what do you want
- A lot of people hate you because you put a quota
- Example: You need 4 pearson to play basketball and you interview 12 pearson but only 3 play basketball, Then you need 2 more basketball players
- Advantage
Convenience Sampling
- Advantage
- You chose your priority pearsons
- Selected by statistical criteria.
- You choose whoever you want
- Disavantage
- A lot of people hate you
- Maybe in some ocations it's not good apply this sampling
- Example: You need a pearson who know about statics and you have 5 candidates and one of that candidates is your nephew and your choose your familiy
- Advantage
