Sampling methods: Survey
Non-experimental method
Important points: Questions and who are the people that answers it
To get specific information
It's important to add the option "other" to have more trustable answers
The questions must be in a neutral point of view, so the people will answer honestly
Simple random sampling is the best way to have an optinion from all the popultation, not only a group of people.
Non-response Bias
- People who are most likely to complete a survey are systematically different from those who don't
Voluntary Response Bias
- The people who choose to respond, are different from other groups
Underrepresentation
- If a group of interest is a minority and the Random Sampling won't represent them
Stratified Random Sampling
- Splits the population into groups of interest and randomly selects people
Cluster Sampling
- Create clusters that are naturally occuring, and randomly selects clusters to survey, no individuals
Snowball sampling
- Current respondents are asked to help recruit people they know from the population of interest
Cencus
- survey to the entire population
- Minimize the sampling error
- Specific information
- Be cautious
- Badly Worded Polls
- Fake Polls
- Biased Polls
- To prevent
- Seems professional?
- Check the questions
- Who and how?
