1. It is a protective shield for the network that is designed to block unauthorized access, while allowing authorized communications.

2. Firewall Network Security Plan

   • only allow the entry of safe and relevant data when protecting a Private network or computer system

3. Packet Filtering

   • Packages are reviewed for inappropriate content. If the firewall finds one, the pre-established rules are followed to verify the origin, destination, protocol and destination port number. This works in the first three layers of the OSI reference. model

4. Stateful Inspection

   • Extra information about packets, including the origin, allows scanning them to check if they are partof an existing connection. If so, these packets are let in immediately, while other are evaluated based on the rules for new connections
