Common mistakes with prepositions in English
- sometimes we write “I should of done something”, when in reality they mean “I should have done something”. As much as “I dived in the pool” should be “I dived into the pool”. there are very few hard and fast rules when it comes to the use of prepositions, which can be tricky for non-native speakers. in some cases, prepositions can never be used on their own, but usually appear before the noun or pronoun to which they are related, which is known as the object of the preposition.
