Past Simple e Past Continuous

  1. Qual a diferença entre Past simple e Past continuous?

    • O Simple Past indica ações pontuais no passado, enquanto o Past Continuous indica ações contínuas. Na frase I was not at home when she arrived. (Eu não estava em casa quando ela chegou.), percebemos duas ações pontuais: was not home (não estava em casa) e she arrived (ela chegou).
    • Simple past
Esse tempo verbal é formando pelo sujeito + simple past do verbo to be (was/were) + o gerúndio do verbo principal (-ing).
  2. Frases afirmativas e negativas

    • Past simple

    • Past continuous
      • I was traveling alone yesterday. You were saying something to her last week. He was feeling well yesterday. She was walking alone. It was raining last night. You were telling me the truth. We were living in São Paulo last year. They were running in the park.
