   • Consumers eat producers and they take in carbon
     • Producers and consumers break down the food to obtain energy
       • As food is broken down producers and consumers release carbon dioxide and water into the invironment.
         • Producers and consumers die, and decomposers break down their remains an return carbon molecules to the soil
