Parabola

1. Special curve, shaped like an arch. Any point on a "parabola" is at an equal distance from a fixed point (the focus), and a fixed straight line (the directrix).

2. VERTEX: Highest or lower point, known as the maximum or minimum of a parabola.

3. AXIS OF SYMMETRY: Line that runs downs the center of the parabola.
