   • + Being made chancellor makes Nazi's look respectable
   • + In charge of the country
   • - Germany is still a democracy
   • - Nazi's don't have an overall majority
   • -Hindenburg is still president
   • - Only 3 Nazis in the cabinet
   • - Army could have removed him

2. The Reichstag Fire

   • February 27th 1933
   • + Hitler arrested 4000 communists (got rid of his rivals)
   • + Emergency decree gives police power
   • - Germany is still a democracy
   • - Hindenburg is still president
   • - 3 Nazis in the cabinet
   • - The army could have removed him

3. The Enabling Act

   • March 1933
   • + He can make laws without going through the Reichstag
   • + He has become a dictator
   • - Hindenburg is still president
   • - The army could have removed him

4. Removal Of Power Groups

   • Trades unions (May) Political parties (July) 1933
   • + Made Germany a 'one part state'
   • + Took away two political parties (potential threat)
   • - Hindenburg is still president
   • - Army could have removed him

5. The Night Of The Long Knives

   • June 30th - July 2nd 1934
   • + Secured support of the army
   • Hindenburg is still alive

6. Death Of Hindenburg

   • August 1934
   • No president above him

7. Hitler Becomes Fuhrer

   • + Gets rid of position of president
   • + Gains personal support from army
