Packaging Analysis

1. Aesthetics

   • The colours and textures used on the packaging will be complimentary to each to create a pleasing overall look which will appeal to the customers. The shape of the box will be a sleek box with rounded edges much like an iphone box. The packaging will also have a weight to it so that it doesn't feel cheap when it is lifted.

2. Cost

   • The packaging will be made out of good quality white card but this can be expensive to buy. The packaging will be made using the laser cutter which is inexpensive in the school environment. However, in an industrial environment that will be more expensive so it is probably best to use the process die-cutting as it can create vast amounts in a short time.

3. Customer

   • The customer who is most likely to buy the product in the packaging is a person in the early adult stages. The packaging will be gender neutral but it may become more female oriented as the designs go on. The product is going to be bought by people who are likely to spend more money on a bottle opener rather than someone who just wants a quick, easy and cheap bottle opener.

4. Environment

   • Both the outside and inside packaging will be made out of materials that can be recycled. This means that the packaging won't add to the pollution of the earth more than other packaging does. However, if materials that aren't recyclable or bio-degradable are used they will be used in a small amount so that it doesn't have a detrimental impact on the environment.

5. Size

   • The size of the packaging will be quite small because having a large amount of packaging will cost more. The box that the product opener would come in would be: Length: 80mm Width: 90 mm Height: 145mm

6. Safety

   • The packaging of the product will be safe to use by the customer as the sides of the boxes where the customer is most likely to get a paper cut will be rounded.

7. Function

   • The packaging must be able to protect the product through transit. It should also display the product to the customer so that it is easy to know that they are buying that product.

8. Material

   • The outer packaging with be made out of good quality thick card similar to the packaging of an Apple product, which is recyclable. However the inside packaging will be made out of either Polyactide or Cellulose Acetate which is bio-degradable.
