Thoracic Wall Arterial Supply

1. Subclavian

   • Internal Thoracic (arising from 1st part)
     • Anterior IC arteries of 1st -->6th IC spaces
     • Musculophrenic
       • Anterior IC arteries of 7th -->9th(last) IC spaces
     • Superior Epigastric

2. Subclavian

   • Costocervical trunk (arising from 3rd part)
     • Supreme (superior) IC
       • 1st posterior IC
       • 2nd posterior IC
     • Deep cervical

3. 3rd posterior IC --> 11th(last) posterior IC

4. ABOUT POSTERIOR IC ARTERIES: located first between Endothoracic fascia and internal intercostal membrane, after crossing the costal angle, they are situated between the innermost IC muscle and the internal IC muscle.

5. Each IC space has 2 Anterior IC arteries while having only one posterior IC artery. 10th and 11th IC spaces have no anterior IC arteries

6. The internal thoracic artery ÷ into musculophrenic and superior epigastric artery at the level of the 6th IC space

7. The IC arteries give rise to dorsal, lateral and anterior perforating branches.
