As Mechanics
  1. Velocity and acceleration
    1. Rate of movement
      1. Velocity (ms-1)=Displacement (m) / Time (t)

        Annotations:

        • This can also be shown as the simpler as Speed=distance/time
        1. Velocity is the the speed of an object but with a direction
          1. Displacement is the distance but with a direction
            1. These are known as Vector Quantities
        2. Average and instantaneous speed
          1. Average speed is calculated by dividing the total distance by total time
            1. To get instantaneous speed you draw a tangent onto a displacement time graph
              1. Example of tangent
                1. You work out the gradient to get the speed. Using the change in X/ Change in Y

                  Annotations:

                  • Delta X/Delta Y  Draw delta using a triangle before the letter
              2. Acceleration
                1. Is defined by the rate of change in velocity
                  1. Acceleration (ms-2)= Change in velocity (ms-1)/time taken for velocity to change (s)
