One family member addicted to drugs & alcohol means
the whole family suffers.
Families who have addiction problems
often have other problems, including:
Lack of effective communication (to spouse or to children)
Poor parenting skills
Poorly
managed
homes with
no structure
or discipline
Ineffective role models for
children (who will then grow
up and repeat the same
mistakes)
More conflicts at home
(arguing, fighting, and even
physical abuse)

Children that are exposed to
alcohol/drug abuse before they are 18
are statistically more likely to engage in
underage alcohol use and develop an
addiction.
About 43% of American adults
(76 million people) have
been exposed to alcoholism
in the family.
An estimated 6.6 million
children under 18 live in
households with at least one
alcoholic parent in America.
