              1. Hitler spent less than 2 years in prison after his putsch. During that time, he did write Mein Kampf and considered his situation. Though he'd been found guilty at his trial, Hitler's refusal to apologies for his attempt to overthrow the government earned him great admiration. While the political and military figures who had participated tried to pretend they weren't aware of the reasons of the meetings and march that day Hitler made it clear that he knew exactly what he was doing, and that he was doing for Germany. Hitler now had access to higher society, and businessmen, who approached him. He realized that he did not have to imitate Mussolini in order to gain what he wished. He started a two prong campaign. In the streets, his SA continued to battle the communists in the streets for the hearts of Germans. Meanwhile, in political halls, meeting rooms, and social gatherings, Hitler moved to gain himself a wider base of support. He had something to offer each group.
