Description
1. Most modern PCs use a graphical user interface (GUI)
2. Small meaningful pictures called icons represent instructions that are available to the user and each one is selected by the mouse pointer
3. Provide help if users have difficulty
4. The purpose of a command button is often described and explained if the cursor is hovered over it
5. A help menu provided a searchable database that explains how to perform various tasks

Advantages
1. Only a low level of ICT skills is required for the easy-to-use, intuitive interface
2. No need to learn any instructions
3. Pictures are more meaningful than words, so small children or people with reading difficulties can use this
4. You can alter the way the GUI is displayed to personalise it
Disadvantages
1. It is large and complex
2. Can take up a lot of the computer's resources
3. May run slowly
