1. Policy - separation of powers/democratic process/fear of the floodgates
Beatty v The Rent Tribunal [2006] - policy - tribunal should not be subject to negligence claims in its decision-making
Hill v Chief Constable of South Yorkshire [1989] - proximity - mother of victim could not sue police force
Lockwood v Ireland [2010] - in absence of mala fides police force not liable to victim who reported crime
M v Comnr of An Garda [2011] - policy - no duty as it would inhibit investigatory powers
G v MJELR [2010] - no duty by Gardai
Ward v McMaster & Louth Co Co [1988] - proximate r/ship existed based on Housing Act
Siney v Dublin Corp [1980] - duty when letting property - fit for human habitation - proximity based on Housing Act
