Maths nth term and quadratic sequence
The nth Term. The 'nth' term is a formula with 'n' in it which enables you to find any term of a sequence without having to go up from one term to the next. 'n' stands for the term number so to find the 50th term we would just substitute 50 in the formula in place of 'n'.
A quadratic sequence is a sequence whose nth term formula is a quadratic. Specifically, the nth term formula for a quadratic sequence will take the form. u n = a n 2 + b n + c u_n=an^2+bn+c un=an2+bn+c, where a , b , a, b, a,b, and c are all numbers – in GCSE maths, they will be either whole numbers or fractions.
