BAKER FARM

1. Thoreau freely roams the woods more

   • He finds things such as shrines and pine groves which he likes to admire
     • He is very splendid at these types of things

2. One day while Thoreau was walking through Baker Farm, it began to rain and he needed shelter

   • The nearest hut was that of John Field, an irishman whose family was also waiting for the rain.
     • In the time he spends there, he finds that John is honest and hardworking yet not determined
       • Thoreau tells John's family that they don't have to work hard to be able to support themself
         • They can instead escape their big expsenes, yet they are not interested
           • Thoreau thinks that they wasted their lives into the bargain.
         • John had come to America for the luxuries he didn't have in Ireland
       • He works from sunrise to sunset
