                    1. Balance compassion with competence.

                    3. Module 4 The Effective Leader
                      1. Qualities of effective leaders include: Clear communication, effective interpersonal management skills, emotional intelligence, values, vision, and empowerment.
                        1. Self-awareness is necessary to assess current status of skills
                        2. Module 5 The Power of Communication
                          1. Presuasion is more powerful than persuasion i.e. what is said before the message influences how it's received.
                            1. Authority is not needed to influence.
                              1. Adaptation is necessary to deliver a message to varied populations.
                                1. Jargon is not a barrier but instead a bridge.
                                2. Module 6 How to Effectively Coach
                                  1. 5 Principle Roles: 1) providing self-management support, 2) bridging the gap between clinician and patient, 3) helping patients navigate the health care system, 4) offering emotional support and 5) serving as a continuity figure.
                                    1. Personal insights include:1) Be solution oriented, 2) Meet them where they’re at, 3) Be creative, 4) Be compassionate, 5) Let go of expectations, 6) Great coaching questions = Open ended questions
                                    2. Why Coach? Coaching = Increased trust in primary care providers.
                                    3. Module 7 Creativity and Innovation
                                      1. As is the cyclical nature of life, innovation requires two forms of thinking, Convergent and Divergent, reflective and active. Go within, or go without.
