Navigation Modes

1. Manual Transition

   • Disadvantages
     • Someone has to be moving it for the presentation to work
     • Will not continously loop
   • Advantages
     • Users can spend as long as they like on one slide before moving to the next
     • Users can select what slide they wish to see and in what order they want to see them in
     • Presenter can control the presentation while talking
     • The presenter can start, stop and end the presentation whenever they want to as well as jumping back and forth between slides to clarify points
   • When would you use it?
     • When the person needs to have control of the presentation in order for it to function effectively
       • E.g. when a teacher is teaching a lesson
   • What is it?
     • When the user is the one that controls when the next slide appears and when the presentation ends, instead of moving on at set times
     • Contains many different methods of being able to move to the next slide in a presentation
       • Buttons
       • Arrow Keys
       • Hyperlinks

2. Automatic Transition

   • Advantages
     • Can be left on so that it will continuously loop the slides
     • No-one has to be there for the presentation to continue to the next slides
     • Timings can be set for each slide - the change occurs accurately
   • Disadvantages
     • Automatic slide transitions are no good if human interaction is required
     • People take longer or shorter than one another to digest the information, so fixed slide timing is a poor option
     • A presenter could not expand on a point enough
   • When would you use it?
     • If you need a slideshow to appear and loop continously to repeatedly show information
       • E.g. an advertisement board
   • What is it?
     • When slides are put on a loop that will move through constantly until told to stop
