1. Macbeth is now king

   • He's worried about Banquo's descendants being king.
     • He orders some murderers to kill Banquo and his son fleance.
       • This shows how much Macbeth has changed since the beginning of the paly
         • He was afraid to kill the king
         • However he is okay to kill his best freind
   • He holds a feast and sees Banquo's ghost
     • Reminding us of the supernatural theme

2. Both Macbeths feel insecure

   • Shakespear uses oxymorrons in this scene
     • "Doubtful joy" and "restless ecstasy" to show their mixed emotions
       • They've fot what they wanted but feel guilty and uneasy

3. The witches meet with Hecate

   • Hecate is annoyed that the witches have been meddling I Macbeths business without her
   • It is a dark scene which creates an atmosphere of fear and evil

4. Lennox plans an uprising

   • Macduff has raised and army against Macbeth while Malcom is at the English court
   • Lennox suspects Macbeth for the death of Duncan and banquo's
   • He Doesn't believe Macbeth is the rightful king

5. Shakespeare wrote this scene from the perspective of minor characters to deelop the felling of unrest in scotland
