JAVA Fundamentals
Java uses several characters as separators, including braces and brackets. Used in things like declaration.
There are 6 primitive data types, including boolean and integers (and other number types).
- Faster and easier to create than other objects, which makes them useful.
Variables are data placeholders that must have a specified type.
- Includes reference type and primitive type.
- Must have a name/identifier.
- Must follow certain JAVA rules regarding formatting, including not being able to begin with a number or include certain characters.
- Declare a variable by writing type first, followed by name and a semi colon.
- Constants are variables whose values cannot be changed once assigned.
Computers in English use ASCII character set. However, JAVA uses Unicode.
Literals are used when assigning values to variables.
- 1. Integer literals used to assign values of primitive number data types.
- 2. Floating Point Literals include numbers with decimals, exponents, fractions, etc.
- 3. Boolean literals assign true or false value.
- 4. Character literals include a Unicode character in single quotes.
