Educating rita/invictus poem (into the world)
  1. INVICTUS BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENERY
    1. Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.
      1. The last two are bothe metaphors are connotaticy,"I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul" These two metaphors are essentially the entire meaning of the poem;if you are unconquerable only you can determine your fate. You the are the master and captain of you destiny. The tone and mood of the poem and its poet is serious, stong and deep yet somehow leaves the reader inspired
        1. The first stanza is mainly henley introducing himself emotionally
          1. "out of the night that covers me,from pole to pole" Night is a metaphor for suffering of any kind.It is also part of a simile and a hyperbole in which the speaker compares th darkness of his suffering to the blackness of a hellish pit stretching from pole to pole.In line 4 unconquerable establishes the theme and a link with the title
