Enzymes
1. Protein Molecules
  1. Speed up rate of chemical reactions in the body
  2. Genes (DNA) codes for the type of enzyme that is produced in that cell
2. They have an optimum temperature at which they work best
  1. If the temperature gets too high, the enzymes become denatured, meaning their structure changes so the substrate will no longer fit
3. The Lock and Key Model
  1. Active Site
    1. This is the part of the enzyme which the substrate fits into
      1. Can be damaged by: 1) The temperature being too hot 2) The pH level
  2. Only a certain shaped substrate will fit into the enzyme
    1. A substrate fits in, the enzyme then brakes it down to make the products
Respiration
1. Aerobic
2. Anaerobic
