1. Inquest to death
  1. Find out cause if there's reasonable cause to suspect death was not natural
2. Rule 37
  1. Allows coroners to take documentary evidence rather than oral
    1. Only if evidence is unlikely to be disputed
Treasure Act 11996
1. Crown or franchise have legal rights to posession
  1. If it was treasure deliberately hidden by past generation
2. Treasure is:
  1. Object which is not a single coin but contains at least 10% gold or silver
    1. 300+ years old
    2. Includes any items with it
  2. 10+ coins found together which are 300+ years old
3. District Coroners hold the inquests to decide if it's treasure
Blackmail
1. 'Usually' illegal for media to identify victims
  1. Court has discretion to make anonymity under Section 11
    1. Allows name or other info to be withheld from public before court
    2. To safeguard victims privacy/embarrassment
    3. Anonymity lasts lifetime
    4. Can be used to protect identities of intelligence officers
    5. Encourages victims to come forward
