- 3. Take off-soc.mob. expan. of towns + cities, rapid industrialis.(coal, steel), better infrastr., mechanised based economy, UK-Indust. Revol.
- 4. Drive to maturity- Industrial base stabilised, investment back into domest. econ + infrastruc.(educ., health, tranport etc),

- 5 stages of modernisation.
Critiques.
- Wallerstein-world system theory-all nation states interconnect-core countr.(USA, France, UK, Canada etc) exploit. relations- periphery countries, semi periph. in between exploit periph and are exploit. by core.
- Frank-Dependence theory- develop. countr. delib. keep developing count. underdevelop., some count. not capab. of modern. periph. fept in state of const. dependance on core.
- Theory is Eurocentric-assume it`s applic. everywhere, treats state indiv. where really they are all interconn. + dependant.
- Non-linear-assume all follow same path, some stop 2-3.
