Annotations:

• One of the most important characters. Married to Elizabeth Proctor 

1. Elizabeth Proctor

   Annotations:

   • Married to John. Knows he had the affair. Gets accused of witch craft
2. Abigail Williams

   Annotations:

   • Has an affair with Proctor and runs away at the end with Mery Lewis
   1. Mercy Lewis

      Annotations:

      • Friends with Abigail and runs away with her to a new town
3. Rev. Hale

   Annotations:

   • A more understanding rev. that tries to help the Proctors. He doesn't want anyone else to hang if they aren't guilty. 
4. Rev. Parris

   Annotations:

   • Not fond of children. Is suspicious of Abigail and Mercy. Doesn't have any interest in children.
   1. Tituba

      Annotations:

      • Communicates with the devil. Dances with the young girls in the forrest and then goes to jail because someone spots that and tells the court.

Annotations:

• Not a very important character. Just adds to the drama with witch craft. Daughter possessed by the devil

1. Ann Putnam

   Annotations:

   • Another woman accused of witchcraft. Daughter was possessed by the devil

• Old man that adds to the court scene at the end. Tries to help out the accused at the court.
