1. Deteriorable

   • Water damage
   • Easy breakage
     • eg. if you bump into it it could break

2. Used in construction

   • Different types of walls
     • eg. skin walls, cavity walls, interior walls
   • Pillar casing
   • Acoustic plasterboard

3. Recyclable

   • In to new gypsum blocks/ drywall
   • If not recycled, the combination of biodegradable waste and gypsum can cause a hydrogen sulphide gas build up
     • Hydrogen sulphide gas is toxic and odorous

4. Raw material is gypsum rock

   • Is surface mined
     • Dried, crushed, heated, mixed with water and additives then fed between recycled paper
       • The calcium sulfade recrystelizes, reverting to the gypsum's original rock state

5. Properties

   • Light weight, fire resistant, sound insulation
