Learner to Self: The One Minute Paper will serve
as an exit/check out ticket for students to gauge
their understanding of the information received
during the lesson. Students will be given one
minute (or selected time by instructor) to choose
and explain one of the four main causes of World
War I (Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and
Nationalism.
"White Board Line Dance"
Learner to Content: The Topic World War I will be written in the
middle of a shared Google Slide that is accessible to the entire
classroom. Students will take turns insert their own textbox
somewhere on the Google Slide. Here students will share out a
word or phrase from their prior schema that relates to World War I.
Upon completion these words will be read aloud be the educator
and students have the opportunity to explain their rationale.
"Fishbowl"
Learner to Learner: The Fishbowl activity divides the classroom into two groups. One
group will speak or comment on a topic while the other listens and then vice versa. This
allows for active participation and active listening skills to be demonstrated at the same
time. In regards to the activity, students will be prompted with the following questions:
1). Would you volunteer to fight for the United States? 2). What is a love of yours that
you would volunteer to fight on it's behalf? Group 1 would construct their answers on a
shared Google Document while Group Two reviews their answers. Then the groups
would switch. Attached is a diagram of a traditional Fishbowl activity.
"Jigsaw"
Learner to Learner: In this Google Document based activity, students will be partnered
up or placed into groups of four. Using their digital textbook and M.A.I.N. Causes of
WWI worksheet, students will describe one/two causes based on group size. Upon
completion, students will share their answers to their group members and submit
their document.
"Virtual Field Trip"
Learner to Technology: The virtual field trip will
promote student interaction on the trench
warfare battlefields from World War I. This
learner to technology activity will allow first
hand experience for students to understand
the terrain, feelings and emotions faced by
these soldiers in WWI.
"KWL Chart"
Learner to Self: The KWL Chart will be used to monitor
what the student already knows in regards to the
Causes of WWI, wants to know and has learned
following the completion of the lesson. The attached
KWL Chart is an example of a template that can be
used. This template can be uploaded, edited and submitted
digitally on Google Classroom.
"Whole Class Lecture
Learner to Instructor: The EdPuzzle Live version will be
completed in the whole class setting and used as the
introduction lecture to the topic, Causes of World War I.
Students will login in on their device, view the video
displayed on the front board and then answer nine
multiple choice questions. A quiz grade will be provided
to the students and instructor.
