1. Using the bible to make moral decisions topic 1.1

   • Bible word of God has authority for decisions, teaching behaviour ten commandments, clear moral instruction, Teachings jesus how to live, follow teaching - moral decision making, record life events follow example, bible authenticated by god, moral decsisons approved by God
   • Dont agree how important it should be, Use church to tell what bible means, church authority over bible use conscience to decide whether to follow bible

               • Why some people dont follow their conscience, mistake voice of god, yorkshire ripper, kill prostitutes, mistake god can mistake conscience, Follow bible all christians agree is right, follow church others think right, everyone followed conscience not law society chaotic, need agreement

                   • Situation ethics as a guide for making moral decisions
                     • What is tje most loving thing to do?, e.g let 12 year old have abortion
                       • Why christains use situation ethics, Jesus followed it, healed man, overide sabbath dont work, Do what produces good, allow abortion, steal nuclear weapons, Love god and your neighbour, do what produces good results, Christainity religion of love, make decisions basd on love not laws
                         • Why people think it is wrong, God would not give laws not to follow, follow other christains not own ideas (sermon on mount), Church knows better follow, Dont know all facts, 1 unit blood, save mother and children or alcoholic, sit ethics choose mother, find out child abuser, man had cure for cancer

                             • Some christains use a variety of authorities in making moral decisions
                               • Protestants use, Bible commandments, sermon on mount, straightfoward teaching on stealing adultry..., Issues civil partnership use bible, says nothing conraception, look else where, church or conscience
                               • Christains follow bible is conscience wrong, e.g conscience says kill doctors pefrom abortions, turn church/bible says wrong to murder, usually use sit ethics complicated use church/bible
                                 • Catholics follow church, pope, bishop, apply bible ideas to modern life, church bans contraception, may well supply africa (aids), difficult civil partnership, church says not wrong but wrong to have sex, turn to conscience or sit ethics

                                       • Rights and freedoms everyone entitled to, right to life, law protect e.g asylum seekers, Freedom slavery/forced labour, right not be enslaved made to work, Right to liberty, free to do anything not against law, detained according to law, right to education,right to vote, Right to own property, Freedom of though, not persecuted for ideas/beliefs
