IA3 Data interfaces, structures and specifications

  1. Data Interface

    • How JSON is presented
      • Tables
        • Rows
          • Tables consist of rows which are a single group of related data.
        • Columns
          • Tables consist of columns which have values belonging to a particular field which is displayed vertically.
        • Cells
          • Tables consist of cells which are intersection of a row and a column.
        • Headings
          • Tables consist of headings which are titles or subtitles at the beginning of the webpage to explain what its about.
      • Sample Data
        • JSON as arrays
          • ["employees":["John","Anna","Peter"]
        • JSON true or false
          • {"sale":true}
        • JSON String
          • '{"name":"John","age":20, "car":null}'
      • HTML
        • HTML Elements
          • Allows a component of an HTML document that tells a web browser how to structure a section of the HTML document.
        • Semantic Sequence
          • Allows for meaningful elements to be demonstrated to occur regularly either in general corpus or in one comprising specific types of text.
        • Lists
          • Allows abstract data type to represent an infinite number of ordered value allowing for the value to occur more then once.
        • Forms
          • Allows databases to have an object that can create a user interface for a database application.
        • Hyperlinks
          • Allows for digital referencing for data that users can follow or be guided to.
      • CSS
        • Internal
          • Allows to style single a page efficiently, whereas styling multiple pages is uneffective.
        • Inline
          • Allows to style a specific HTML Element and is useful if there is no CSS file to link to.
        • Extermal
          • Allows web pages to link with external .css files which allows to effectively style a website.
  2. Data Structures

    • How JSON is structured from API
      • Keys
        • Primary Key
          • Uniquely indentifies each record in the table.
        • Foreign Key
          • Establishes a relationship between tables.
        • Candidate Key
          • Alternate unique keys that could be primary keys.
        • Super Key
          • Combination of attributes that uniquely identify.
      • Values
        • String
          • A data type used in programming, that is used to represent text rather then numbers.
        • Number
          • The internal representation of numeric values in digital device, hardware and software.
        • Object
          • A variable, a data structure, a function or a method.
        • Array
          • A data structure that consists of a collection of elements, of same memory size, being identified by at least one array index.
        • True or False
          • A variable which can only have two possible states, true or false.
        • Null
          • A special marker and keyword in SQL that something has no value
      • Array
        • Multi-Dimensional
          • Powerful data structures used to store and manage data organisationally. This type of array consists of multiple arrays that are arranged hierarchically
        • Two-Dimensional
          • Contain arrays in elements which are referred as matrix arrays due to them being able to be though of as a grid that lays out elements into rows and columns
        • One-Dimensional
          • Contains a single row of elements. Each element in an array can be conveniently accessed
  3. Data Specification

    • Data Used in JSON
      • Data Types
        • Array
          • A data structure that consists of a collection of elements, of same memory size, being identified by at least one array index.
        • Object
          • A variable, a data structure, a function or a method.
        • Number
          • The internal representation of numeric values in digital device, hardware and software.
        • String
          • A data type used in programming, that is used to represent text rather then numbers.
      • Data Length
        • Maximum Document size
          • 5368709121 bytes
        • Maximum nesting depth
          • 256 Levels
        • Maximum label string length
          • 8192 bytes
        • Maximum value string length
          • 5368709121 bytes
      • Constraints/Validations
        • Constraints is a relation between multiple variables that limits the values these variables take simulaneously
          • Computer Science
          • Operations research
          • Solving combinatorial problems that draw on a wide range of techniques
        • Validations is an automatic computer check to ensure that the entered is sensible or reasonable
          • Presence check confirms that a username must be entered.
          • Length Check checks a password being at least 8 characters long.
          • Range Check checks age restriction may require the users DOB to be certain of date.
