Chapter 7: Conversion Business Process

1. Business Rules for Conversion Process

   • Issue Raw Material
     • Issues from from raw material according to bill of material recorded accurately
     • Partner issuing material must not be same partner that authorized production
     • Partner recording issue of material cannot modify bill of material
   • Authorize Production
     • Partner with proper authority authorizes production to ensure finished goods available to meet expected demand
     • Supervisor must authorize production > $5,000.
     • Partner authorizing production cannot modify inventory records

2. Sunset Graphics Conversion Process

   • Quantity on hand of a product dropped below the minimum level causes the item manager authorized production to increase the quantity
   • The bill of material for that item is then issued as material into work in process
   • Sunset partners then constructed the items
   • Upon completion, the products were placed in inventory

3. Basic Conversion BPMN Activity Model

   • Authorize Production
     • Issue Raw Materials
       • Peform Work
         • Complete Production

4. Contents of the Subprocess

   • Issue R/M
     • Perform Work
       • Inspect Work
         • Discard Errors (if necessary)
