RAM
- >RAM = Random Access Memory
- RAM is volatile
- Volatile (in terms of a computer) means that memory can only be retained if a power supply is connected.
- When the device is turned off, the RAM will lose it's data and can't be restored when the device is turned on again.
- Static RAM (SRAM) is faster but more expensive than Dynamic RAM (DRAM).
ROM
- >ROM = Read-Only Memory
- ROM is non-volatile
- Non-volatile means that memory can still be retained even after the power supply was previously off.
- In contrast, the ROM will still keep the data when it is turned off.
