Pigs- Semi-Intensive Production System
Involves confining the pigs to a limited area/space for grazing.
Farmer has to provide all the feed, water and vet service as they are limited to a set space.
They are fed with kitchen waste and agricultural byproducts such as corn husks, cobs and peels.
Pigs are allowed to graze on the grass in the area but they will most likely trample it all down.
Farmers spend more and give more attention and time to the pigs in this system.
The financial impact is low but the farmers need a lot of technical knowledge and facts about the pigs.
Pregnant sows are usually given a lot more attention and extra feed in this system.
