Erosion in Rivers

1. Hydraulic Power

   • The force of the water on beds + banks of rivers
     • Powerful when there is a flood
       • It powers most of the types of erosion in rivers

2. Corrasion/Abrasion

   • Pebbles + boulders being carried along by the river
     • It erodes the bed + bank away

3. Corrosion

   • Sometimes river water is slightly acidic and it can dissolve rocks over a period of time
     • An example of this is the dissolving of limestone
       • We get calcium hydrogen carbonate

4. Attrition

   • Pebbles banging into each other powered by hydraulic power
     • This causes the pebbles to eventually break
