Validation and Verification

1. Validation

   • Aims to make sure that data is sensible, reasonable, complete and within acceptable boundaries.
   • Can help reduce the number of errors it cannot stop them.
   • Performed when the data is enterred into the cinema.

2. Range check

   • Range check is commonly used when using numerical data such as currency and dates.
   • Allows you to set suitable boundaries.

3. Type check

   • Ensures that the correct type of data is enterred.

4. Check Digit

   • Used when you want to be sure that a range of numbers has been enterred correctly.

5. Length check

   • Can make sure that the right amount of numbers are enterred.

6. Lookup

   • Creates a list of only the things you should be enterring.

7. Picture/Format check

   • Makes sure that a letter isnt enterred in a space where a number should be and vice versa.

8. Presence check

   • To make sure that something is filled in and not left blank.

9. Verificationn

   • To check that the data enterred on the original source is the same as the data that has been enterred into the system.
   • To make sure there is as few mistakes as possible.
