1. Health workers see what it is to be human - we observe it

   • Physically through anatomy
   • emotionally through observing patients reactions to illness, observing their lives, hearing about social circumstances
   • psychologically

2. Health workers have a response to working in health - we respond to it

   • Physical - fatigue, infection
   • Psychological
     • Emotional
     • mental health

3. Health workers influence health - we can change it for better or worse

   • Better - through improving their physical or mental health, or by improving the experience of care
   • Worse - adverse events (accidental), poor systems, or through unprofessional behaviour, lack of compassion
